Each scheduled classroom course offers in-depth presentations by seasoned industry experts, team activities, and exercises that encourage effective problem-solving.

Distribution Integrity Management Program (DIMP)

There have been many new developments since the DIMP Final Rule was released. The course will include discussion of these important changes—including the results and findings of operator audits conducted since the August 2, 2011, implementation date. Our instructors for this workshop were involved in the rule-making process, so you'll get first-hand information. New material is added to the course contents as it becomes available.

Compressor Station & Systems Design

Build the practical skills you need to design a single-unit compressor station during this 4.5 day program. This course enhances your understanding of the main systems in a single-unit compressor station and gives you the confidence to make effective design decisions. You will have experience laying out major interconnecting piping and performing calculations to size equipment.

Gas Distribution Engineering: Piping System & Materials (Week 1)

In Week 1, Piping Systems and Materials, you'll get an understanding of the properties and design of piping systems—steel and plastic pipe (and cast iron, where appropriate)—and explore incident investigation, leakage control, repair/replace decisions, corrosion and cathodic protection, route selection criteria, and more.

Gas Distribution Engineering: System Planning (Week 2)

August 3 - 7, 2020 | Residence Inn O'Hare, Rosemont, IL

In Week 2, System Planning, you'll learn measurement principles; meter fundamentals; pressure regulation principles; overpressure protection; gas supply planning; gas control operations; system design principles and considerations; load estimating; gas flow principles and equations; system modeling; and enhancing pressure by redirecting flow.

ECDA/ICDA External Corrosion Direct Assessment-Internal Corrosion Direct Assessment

August 3 - 6, 2020 | GTI HQ, Des Plaines, IL

The critical areas of the pipeline integrity management (PIM) plan involve identifying high consequence areas. In the two workshops (ECDA 2.5 days + ICDA 1.5 days) you'll learn the four steps needed to assess corrosion inside and outside of your pipeline.

Gas Distribution Engineering has played an essential role in the training of thousands of distribution engineers for 70 years. This comprehensive course consists of two 4½-day weeks. Gas Controller Training for Distribution/Transmission

September 14 - 18, 2020 | Residence Inn O'Hare, Rosemont, IL

During this course get a fundamental understanding of natural gas equipment, how it operates, and how it impacts the pressure and flow of gas. This is an interactive workshop with both computer simulations to demonstrate basic gas hydraulics and scenarios of abnormal operating conditions that controllers must recognize and respond to. The simulations are supported by DNV GL Pipeline Simulation software developed by GL Noble Denton.

Prevention & Mitigation of Gas System Overpressurization

October 13 - 14, 2020 | Residence Inn O'Hare, Rosemont, IL

As part of this two day course, students involved in the design, operations and construction of gas piping systems will review gas industry incidents and learn how to mitigate overpressurization. This course focuses on overpressurization factors other than the regulator equipment and is relevant to industry lessons learned. We will examine practices for engineering, construction and O&M that include process, procedures and several specific activities which each need attention to reduce the total risk of overpressurization of a gas piping system.
