Understanding LNG Terminals and Terminal Operations Overview
Course Overview:
Understanding LNG Terminals and Terminal Operations provides a comprehensive introduction to the systems, equipment, processes, and operational considerations involved in LNG terminals. Designed for both technical and non-technical professionals, this course helps participants understand how LNG terminals function as a critical link within the overall LNG value chain—from liquefaction and transportation through receiving, storage, vaporization, and delivery to downstream markets.
Led by instructors with extensive LNG industry experience, the course combines LNG fundamentals with practical discussions of terminal design and operations. Participants explore how LNG properties and thermodynamic behavior influence facility design, equipment selection, storage, transfer, boil-off gas management, vaporization, instrumentation, utilities, safety, reliability, and day-to-day terminal operations.
The course also examines the important interface between LNG ships and terminal operations, providing participants with a broader understanding of how marine transportation, receiving terminals, and facility operations must work together to safely and reliably move LNG through the supply chain.
Upon completion, participants will have a stronger end-to-end understanding of how an LNG terminal is designed, operated, and integrated into the broader LNG supply chain.
Participants will be better equipped to recognize major terminal systems and equipment, understand their functions and operational relationships, participate effectively in LNG-related discussions, and appreciate the safety, reliability, and operational considerations necessary for successful terminal operations.
Target Audience:
- LNG plant and terminal operators, supervisors, and managers
- Engineers and technical professionals supporting LNG facilities
- Operations, maintenance, reliability, and project personnel
- Professionals involved in planning, designing, constructing, or operating LNG terminals
- Government and regulatory personnel responsible for LNG facility siting or operations
- Project managers and business professionals who need a working knowledge of LNG terminal operations
- Technical and non-technical personnel seeking a broader understanding of LNG terminals and their role within the LNG value chain
