Today, GTI Energy announced new leadership and members of its Board of Directors. Mr. Nickolas Stavropoulos, an internationally recognized utility safety culture leader, and Mr. John Somerhalder II, a seasoned energy industry executive experienced in governance and strategy execution, will serve as Chair and Vice Chair of GTI Energy’s Board of Directors, effective July 1.

The board also elected two new directors: Ms. Kelcey Brown, President and CEO of MidAmerican Energy, who brings a rich operational perspective spanning power generation, transmission and distribution of gas and electricity; and Mr. William (Bill) Yardley, who brings executive experience working with regulators and large energy consumers while operating gas transmission and midstream businesses across North America.

“To meet net zero goals, it is critical that we investigate emerging technologies that support the transition to cleaner energy while maintaining the focus on reliability and flexibility for consumers,” said Kelcey Brown, President and CEO, MidAmerican Energy. “I am excited to contribute to GTI Energy’s focus on designing and demonstrating solutions that make decarbonizing viable.”

“Keeping safety, reliability and customer focus at the forefront in how we continue to evolve energy systems is a passion I share with the GTI Energy team.” said Bill Yardley, Board Member, Enbridge Gas Inc. “I welcome the opportunity to support GTI Energy’s work to secure innovative solutions that benefit the people and communities our energy systems serve.”

Rebecca Ranich retired as Chair of the Board after 16 years of dedicated service to GTI Energy. Since joining the board in 2008, Rebecca has been a tremendous champion and valued counsel in expanding GTI Energy’s impact.

“It has been my privilege to serve alongside my colleagues in the board and be part of GTI Energy’s development as an innovation ecosystem working with others to move the dial on energy systems transitions over the last 16 years,” said Rebecca Ranich, President of Exenico, LLC. “I am honored to have contributed to strengthening GTI Energy’s impact-focused dedication to its mission.”

“Rebecca’s strong vision, strategic perspective and ever-present sense of the urgency of our mission helped propel GTI Energy forward over her many years of service,” said Paula Gant, President and CEO, GTI Energy. “Our role at the intersection of tradition and innovation in the continual evolution of energy systems is bolstered by contributions from leaders like Rebecca who push us forward, challenging us always to reach for greater impact.”

GTI Energy is privileged to rely on its Board of Directors to lend expertise and insight as it delivers on its commitment to develop and demonstrate solutions that shape low-carbon, low-cost energy systems for the people and communities they serve.
