The RESET Buildings Project at North Dakota Army National Guard (NDARNG)
GTI Energy, in collaboration with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Construction Engineering Research Laboratory (CERL), has launched the RESET Buildings (Resilient Energy Systems for Extreme Temperatures in Buildings) project to strengthen energy performance in extreme weather conditions across multiple North Dakota Army National Guard (NDARNG) locations.
The project is focused on reducing loads, optimizing energy systems to perform reliably in harsh weather conditions, and demonstrate resilience where temperature extremes place high demand on heating infrastructure.
Technologies under evaluation include:
- Non-disruptive building enclosure retrofits to reduce loads
- Advanced boiler system operations for space heating
- Geothermal integration and thermal energy storage
- Compressed natural gas (CNG) as a flexible fuel storage solution
The RESET project is designed to deliver replicable solutions that reduce energy consumption, enhance system reliability, and support U.S. Department of Defense (DOD) efforts to improve installation energy efficiency in cold-climate regions.
