Going Global: Expanding the Reach and Impact of GTI’s Cool LPG Technology as a Clean Fuel Alternative

GTI is pleased to announce it has recently entered into licensing agreements with the Global LPG Partnership (GLPGP) and BioLPG, LLC (BioLPG), for GTI’s Cool LPG technology that indicates utility for decarbonizing energy systems and supplying green LPG for both the developing and developed worlds.

The Cool LPG technology converts biogas sourced from landfills, agricultural facilities (animal waste and food by-products), and wastewater treatment plants, even potentially municipal solid waste, into renewable liquid fuels for cooking, heating, and transportation.

The Global LPG Partnership (GLPGP), a not-for-profit organization backed by the United Nations (UN), is committed to helping transition large populations to LPG for clean, modern cooking.

“The Cool LPG technology provides a clean burning alternative to cooking with wood, charcoal, animal dung, and kerosene providing a dramatically improved standard of living,” said Kimball Chen, Chairman of GLPGP. “It takes us beyond conventional LPG to implementing renewable bio-LPG that can have an even greater impact on our environmental footprint.”

“Affordable access to modern energy is a critical part of the transition to a sustainable future,” said David Carroll, President and CEO of GTI, “and the demand for green resources is significant and growing. We are truly honored to be engaged in this joint development effort, putting our expertise into action to address important social and environmental concerns. We look forward to a future where installations around the world are delivering the green, clean burning LPG that is so desperately needed.”

GTI’s second agreement is with BioLPG, LLC, the for-profit sister company of GLPGP, who has been granted a license to provide a decarbonized LPG option to more developed countries to help meet net zero carbon goals.

“We are eager to facilitate and scale up a transition to green LPG in both developing and developed countries. Building Cool LPG facilities can create the viable transition for many hundreds of millions of people to renewable LPG within the next decade,” noted Chen, who also serves as the CEO of BioLPG. “To do that, we need to be involved in real-world research, while aligning and mobilizing global expertise, funding, and resources to develop the necessary infrastructure and to establish appropriate policies, regulation, and enforcement that will draw in investment and create LPG sector growth. GTI has a justly-deserved reputation for creating strong collaborative partnerships, and we will leverage their talented staff and their technical knowledge to help us achieve our goals.”

Over the next few years, the GTI team, based at GTI’s technology development facilities in metropolitan Chicago, will work closely with GLPGP and BioLPG to further refine the Cool LPG technology to accelerate its global deployment.
