Center for Applied LDC AI Research
The Center for Applied LDC AI Research was established in 2023 through an Operations Technology Development initiative. This center aims to equip Local Distribution Companies (LDCs) with the essential knowledge and tools needed to select and implement impactful artificial intelligence (AI) systems effectively.
LDCs continue to work to better understand which AI systems can be effectively leveraged to meet their specific needs, while understanding the rapid evolution of AI and commercially viable products. This necessitates an evaluation process to understand the advantages, disadvantages, risks, and opportunities associated with various AI tools.
Through the center, GTI Energy provides valuable insights to LDCs, including:
- Research Assessments: Regular newsletters offer detailed evaluations of the latest AI technologies, helping LDCs stay informed about cutting-edge developments.
- Live Demonstrations: Real-world AI competencies are tested and showcased through live demonstrations, allowing LDCs to see the practical applications of AI tools in action.
- Benchmarking Assessments: Generative AI tools are benchmarked for their ability to answer industry-specific questions, providing LDCs with a clear understanding of the tools' effectiveness and potential impact.
This ongoing work is crucial in identifying practical uses of AI technology to support the energy industry, ensuring that LDCs can make informed decisions about leveraging the use of AI technologies within their system. By staying at the forefront of AI advancements, the Center for Applied LDC AI Research helps LDCs navigate the complexities of AI integration and maximize the benefits of these powerful technologies.
