Savings

A sCO2 power plant generates electricity from less fuel, using less water, and requires a smaller footprint.

The higher efficiency power plants using supercritical CO2 technology results in reduced fuel usage for the same amount of power produced. While lowering emissions, this will also translate into lower electricity costs for consumers. Because of the unique fluid properties of supercritical CO2, the turbo-machinery in a sCO2 power plant is more compact, resulting in lower capital cost as well as reduced plant size and footprint. Water consumption is reduced as well, all the way to entirely water-free capability.

In combination, these factors decrease emissions and minimize environmental impact, and lower-cost electricity can be brought to consumers.

Become a project partner

This open project is welcoming new partners from around the world. OEMs, engineering companies, and power plant owner/operators are invited to join to gain a better understanding of how sCO2 technology can improve high-efficiency power generation.
