2025 Conference Summary

Following on 2024’s success, over 60 people from around the world gathered at the University of Texas at Austin to talk about hydrogen emissions. With more speakers and tours, we fulfilled our promise of making HEX@TEX 2025 bigger and better than before, without compromising the intimacy that made the first event so successful.

Last year’s conference was held at the peak of the hydrogen hype cycle; HEX@TEX 2025 showed that hydrogen has now moved beyond the hype. With real projects being commissioned all over the world, hydrogen is still relevant.

From September 30-October 1, 2025, leaders from industry, research, and government convened to share new technologies, frameworks, and collaborations to advance the hydrogen economy.

Hosted by GTI Energy’s HyRes and the Webber Energy Group, this premier conference progressed understanding and addressed hydrogen emissions across the value chain.

The event kicked off with a tour of the Hydrogen ProtoHub at UT Austin, a scalable, multi-source ecosystem that produces hydrogen at scale by integrating electrolysis powered by solar and wind with renewable natural gas via steam methane reforming.

A tour of the Bureau of Economic Geology (BEG) closed out the conference, showcasing cutting-edge research on hydrogen storage and production.

Virtual panels highlighted international perspectives, and a Student Poster Session shared innovations that are accelerating the deployment of hydrogen technologies across sectors. ExxonMobil and Operations Technology Development (OTD) sponsored the conference.
